President Muhammadu Buhari has deducted from Paris Club Refund all outstanding counterpart funds from defaulting states up to 2018 and paid to UBEC

Published Aug 4, 2019

According to a report by the Nigeria News Agency, President Muhammadu Buhari has deducted from Paris Club Refund all outstanding counterpart funds from defaulting states up to 2018 and paid to UBEC. The Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Dr Hamid Bobboyi, was quoted saying “I am glad to announce that technically, there are no ‘un-access’ funds in UBEC up to 2018”.  The report further stated that the commission has disbursed all the funds amounting to N142 billion; N71 billion from UBEC and N71 billion from the states as counterpart funds.

This news is worthy of celebration because the states now have some funds to fix some of the educational issues at the local level, especially the dilapidating school buildings. We believe the  President deserves some accolades for taking this measure. And we hope you will use this opportunity to thank him and urge him to continue to take such a measure until the entire education sector is refurbished nationally

Thank President Muhammadu Buhari for deducting from Paris Club Refund to pay UBEC

Thank you @MBuhari for deducting from Paris Club Refund to pay @ubecnigeria. I believe this will go a long way to help states to fix some educational issues. I look forward to seeing more drastic measures to fully reform the education sector in Nigeria.
